Manchester United are “dreaming” of signing Kalidou Koulibaly.

The Red Devils intend to fix their defensive issues as soon as possible, despite their adamance on not bringing in any new signings until a permanent manager has been appointed.

But persistent problems in central defence have forced them to target several world-class centre-backs, with their pursuit leading them towards one of the best players in the position: Napoli superstar Kalidou Koulibaly.

Manchester United have been heavily linked with the Senegalese international in recent weeks, and if latest reports are to be believed, they could be set to up their chase.

According to France Football via GFFN, the Mancunian giants are dreaming of signing Koulibaly in the ongoing winter transfer window itself, so as to bring in a ready-made defensive leader to their star-studded squad.

However, the report adds that the club will have to cough up a transfer fee in the region of €100 million in order to stand a chance of finalising a deal with Napoli.

Meanwhile, sources in England claim that Manchester United may face additional obstacles in their pursuit of the 27-year-old’s signature, as Real Madrid have also expressed an interest in his services.

Further, the Galacticos are already said to be willing to match the Serie A club’s asking price for Koulibaly, which could entirely swing the tide in Real’s favour.
