FC Porto Set £68m Asking Price On Their In-Demand Defender
Manchester United have heavily pursued several talented centre-backs since the 2018 summer transfer window, but they have successfully signed none so far.
The likes of Yerry Mina, Jerome Boateng, Harry Maguire, Toby Alderweireld, and Mehdi Benatia were previously linked with a switch to Old Trafford, but not one of these players arrived at the club.
Further, during the build up to the January transfer window, the Red Devils had supposedly expressed their interest in three Serie A centre-backs, viz. Kalidou Koulibaly, Kostas Manolas, and Milan Skriniar.
While the Manolas rumours have persisted, Koulibaly appears to be too expensive at the moment, whereas Skriniar recently ruled out a departure by lashing out at reports of his Inter exit through a social media post.
But Manchester United haven’t given up just yet, as new reports suggest they have identified a brand new target in order to strengthen their backline.
According to Portuguese outlet O Jogo, the Premier League giants have enquired about FC Porto centre-back Eder Militao, after being left impressed with his performances in the Champions League.
The report adds that the Portuguese club values the 20-year-old at £68 million – a hefty sum for a youngster, who also seems to be on the radar of Liverpool and Real Madrid.
Will Manchester United cough up the asking price? Or will another centre-back join the growing list of the club’s ex-targets?
