Here’s Why Lingard Got Angry With Arsenal Supporters
The Emirates witnessed defeat as Manchester United held Arsenal to a 3-1 loss in the FA Cup.
Alexis Sanchez and Jesse Lingard opened the scoring for the Red Devils, following which Aubameyang sought to inject some hope into the home side with his goal. However, the second-half settled it in favor of the Mancunians, as Anthony Martial scored off a rebound save from Petr Cech.
For a majority of the ninety minutes, the encounter was bereft of the usual clashes that a United vs Arsenal game tends to hold, with the players maintaining a cordial demeanor and even putting a few moments of class on display.
However, all that was thrown out towards the end of the game, when a clash resulted in quite a ruckus.

A spar of words and a clash of heads occurred between Marcus Rashford and Sead Kolasinac. In order to support his teammate, Lingard jumped to the defense, which triggered a coming together of both sides in a crowded encounter.
Tensions flared even more when the lot of players moved closer to the stands and the home crowd got involved.
In fact, Lingard’s anger shifted from the Arsenal players to the shouting crowd when something was thrown at the United players. Television replays later showed Ashley Young picking up a coin and returning it to the assistant referee, pointing out that it was thrown from the stands.

This was a moment of much class and composure from the veteran Englishman, who could have just as easily thrown the coin back where it came from.
Lingard, however, was hard to placate, and had to be substituted shortly, as he was already on a yellow card, and the side couldn’t afford to lose him to suspension.
Such antics certainly show the many ways in which the fans too play an extra role in these big games.
