How Mason Greenwood Inspired A Sensational Comeback Against Liverpool U18s

Mason Greenwood has been grabbing numerous headlines with his recent performances for Manchester United‘s youth team.

His antics have led many to dub him as the next big thing to come out of the famous academy, and his latest display against Liverpool u18s backs that claim tremendously.

With United u18s trailing 2-0 against their arch-rivals, Greenwood popped up with three moments of brilliance to help his side win the game 3-2.

After Liverpool went down to ten men, the 17-year-old forward stepped up to score an impressive free-kick in the 60th minute, pulling a goal back for the Red Devils.

Greenwood then bagged an assist to aid defender Teden Mengi, who scored a headed goal to level the scores with 15 minutes left on the clock.

The game eventually went to 30 minutes of extra time, wherein ‘Magic Mason’ came to the rescue yet again with another exceptional free-kick, effectively sending Manchester United to the final four of the PL Cup.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had recently hinted that several young starlets, including Mason Greenwood, are edging close to their senior first-team debuts.

And with the performance the Englishman has just put up against the club’s biggest rivals, the forward’s special moment on the big stage may very well arrive before the ongoing season comes to an end.
