The Ole Gunnar Solskjaer train powered through full-speed yet again, as the Red Devils won their latest home game 3-2 against Southampton. The Saints entered the game as proper underdogs, resting just above the relegation zone.
As of such, it was a real stunner when the visiting side opened the scoring in the first-half. In the second-half, Andreas Pereira was the unspoken hero, as he first scored a screamer to equalize and then set up Romelu Lukaku for another brilliant goal.
Following that, Southampton scored again, this time through a well-found free-kick. Regardless, the Reds showed real intent and passion, and were able to win the game, as Lukaku found the back of the net in the final minute of normal time.
Simply put, this was a classic United encounter, packed with electricity and uncertainty, and holding true to the Mancunian way of life.
Former Red Devil Dimitar Berbatov was particularly happy with the result and expressed as much after the game. [Watch Video]
United are now entering the final stretch of games of the season. PSG await them next, they are still in the FA Cup, and with this win, they have made their top-four intentions well-known as well.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer summed up the mood at the club quite well when he stated: “We are three points behind Tottenham now, the last nine games will be very exciting. I have decided that as long as I am here I am going to enjoy every single second. I am so happy for the players.”
Berbatov, along with most fans, will be hoping that the reign of Solskjaer goes beyond this season and into the history.
Old Trafford tonight was vocal about their love for the Norwegian, and not appointing him, as the full-time gaffer would be a massive mistake by the higher-ups.
