Berbatov Reveals How An 18-Year-Old Pogba Bested Him In Training
Paul Pogba is undoubtedly one of the best midfielders in world football at present, and his performances for both club and country are enough evidence of that.
Having initially struggled under former boss Jose Mourinho upon his return to Manchester United, the Frenchman is now in top form under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, and is currently enjoying his best campaign on an individual level.
Amid the midfielder’s purple patch, his ex-teammate and former Red Devils’ striker Dimitar Berbatov has looked back at Pogba’s first few days at the Old Trafford club.
The Bulgarian ace has shared an incident involving an 18-year-old Pogba, and how his antics in training impressed the experienced members of the senior team.
Speaking to Betfair, Berbatov revealed: “I remember Paul coming to play with the first team, training with us. He was just enjoying being in Manchester and was good friends with the first team and when you’re happy, you’re settled.
“He caused a stir in training straight away. He was tall, athletic, would get the ball from me, intercept it and got on my nerves. I knew I had to take this guy seriously because he had something.”
The decorated forward added: “You could see from the beginning that he had technical ability, vision of the game, where to position himself and now you can see the result – he is one of the best in the world.”
Having found his footing again under Solskjaer, Pogba will now hope to lead the Red Devils towards the best possible finish to the ongoing campaign, and resume the fight for major titles next season.
