Three Premier League Powerhouses In Pursuit Of RB Leipzig’s Sporting Director
Three Premier League giants have expressed their interest in signing RB Leipzig sporting director Paul Mitchell.
Mitchell has amassed quite a reputation in world football, having been responsible for discovering numerous world-class talents at his current as well as former clubs.
Whilst at Southampton, he unearthed talents like Sadio Mane, Dusan Tadic and Graziano Pelle. And after following Mauricio Pochettino to Spurs, he attracted Toby Alderweireld, Dele Alli and Kieran Trippier to the London club.
He has continued his impressive work at RB Leipzig, who are eager to make him their new ‘head of global football’ – a brand new position which will see him take up increased responsibilities at the Bundesliga outfit.
But now, Sky Sports indicate that three juggernauts from his homeland, viz. Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester United, are heavily interested in bringing him back to England.
While the Gunners look to replace the recently-departed Sven Mislintat, the Blues having been searching for an apt successor for Michael Emenalo since 2017 – their pursuit now hastened due to the forthcoming year-long transfer ban.
The Red Devils, on the other hand, have confirmed that they intend to appoint their first ever director of football come summer, and Manchester-born Mitchell is one of the top candidates to take over the role at Old Trafford.
It will be interesting to see if the in-demand 38-year-old chooses to prolong his future in Germany, or secure a sensational return to England instead.
