Romelu Lukaku claims that he is hoping to play in Serie A “sooner or later”.

The Belgium striker, who joined United under Jose Mourinho in 2017, has lost his starting spot to Marcus Rashford, following the arrival of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Speaking on Sky Italia’s Lords of Football, the former Everton star has admitted that he is dreaming of a move to Italy in the near future: “Playing in Serie A is a dream, it would be really a dream.

“I hope to be able to play sooner or later, even if at the moment I am focused on the United.”

Romelu Lukaku’s agent Federico Pastorello has also hinted at a potential move at the end of the season.

Speaking to Sky Sports, he said: “At the moment he is very focused on finishing the season. The competition for third and fourth place in England is very tight so let’s see what will happen in the future at the end the season.

“It’s his second season here and he will still have three years on his contract until the end. Let’s see. He’s someone who loves to know a different culture, a different football.”

As to what his potential destination could be, the agent revealed: “He likes Italy. When he was a child he followed a lot the Italian league. Everybody agrees today the Premier League is the best but years ago Italy was the best and they were the dreams for the younger footballer players.”
