Manchester United have been in ‘regular contact’ with the representatives of Edinson Cavani.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side has struggled heavily in front of goal lately, and even shots on target have been difficult to come by in recent games.

While Romelu Lukaku has been out of favour since the Norwegian tactician’s arrival, Marcus Rashford, the new first-choice striker, has lost his form altogether in recent weeks.

The Old Trafford futures of both the forwards are far from secure, with Lukaku especially keen to secure a summer departure and head to Italy.

Now, a new report via SportWitness has indicated that Manchester United have been monitoring a potential first-choice striker for a while, in the form of PSG superstar Edinson Cavani.

With his current contract set to expire in 2020 and no new deal on the table, the Ligue 1 giants could look to offload the 32-year-old striker this summer, much to the Red Devils’ benefit.

Cavani himself spoke about his future in Paris last weekend, telling Canal+ the following: “I have my contract here, another year. I am good, I am calm, I am very happy in this team, with the fans, the city. Aside from that, in football, you never know.”

The Uruguayan international has also attracted interest from Atletico Madrid and Inter, and it remains to be seen how this transfer saga pans out.
