Paris Saint-Germain have won the race to sign Ander Herrera.

Manchester United appear to have failed to hold onto their tenacious midfielder, as they refused to meet his wage demands and decided to let him leave of a free transfer instead.

The Spanish international has been on the radar of Paris Saint-Germain for quite some time now. However, recent reports emerging from Spain suggested that Athletic Bilbao had entered the race for their former player’s services.

But now, it seems like Bilbao’s hopes of hijacking the deal for the 28-year-old have ended in failure, as per French news outlet RMC Sport.

The source suggests that Athletic Bilbao’s offer for Herrera arrived a little too late, and the midfielder has already agreed a deal with the Ligue 1 giants.

The terms of the contract seem to be set already, with just the duration of the deal left to be figured out. The report adds that it could be 4-5 years long.

Despite these updates, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer expects Herrera to help the Red Devils during their final three games of the season.

“Three games left of the season and Ander has been training, he’s been enthusiastic. He’ll probably be involved,” Ole confirmed ahead of Sunday’s Chelsea fixture.

“I think he’s fit enough to be involved on Sunday. I can’t guarantee, because there’s still two days left, but he’s trained the last two days.”
