Manchester United Offer One Last Contract To Spaniard
Manchester United’s Spanish presence looks to be in some doubt going into next season. The trio of David De Gea, Juan Mata, and Ander Herrera have long been a pleasant sight at Old Trafford, occupying crucial spots in the club’s lineup.
Now, the Red Devils are potentially looking at life without them as Ander Herrera has reportedly signed for PSG when he becomes a free agent come summer.
Juan Mata’s contract also expires in the summer while David De Gea’s recent woes may cause United to sell him and try and make a profit rather than see him go for free at the end of next season.
Now, the club has allegedly afforded a final contract to one of these Spanish stars.

As per MEN, United have offered a final renewal chance to Juan Mata, a one-year deal with an offer to extend for another season.
The report adds that Mata isn’t fully pleased with this attempt as he’d instead prefer a proper two-year extension. The club has allegedly also offered the 31-year-old an ambassadorial role at the end of his playing career.
It is understood that Mata is ‘calm’ about the scenario and that the club’s hierarchy is hopeful that the former Chelsea player will renew his deal.

Mata was one of the earliest signings in the post-SAF era and the one to have stuck around the longest. His most recent contribution came in their 1-1 draw against Chelsea where the attacking midfielder netted the side’s sole goal of the game.
Mata is valued by the club due to his creativity, experience, and brilliance in the playmaking role. If United do embark on a summer culling that oversees Alexis Sanchez and Romelu Lukaku depart, Mata could certainly stay on as a player with experience in the forward line.
With interest also coming in from Spain, it will be interesting to see what choice he makes.
