Old Trafford shall see Manchester United play one last time this season as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be pitted against his former employers Cardiff City.
The reverse fixture, which was his first one as caretaker gaffer of Manchester United, was the biggest victory of United’s season and the Red Devils will be looking to replicate that success to end the campaign on a positive note.
Let us have a look at how the teams will lineup for matchday 38:
Solskjaer made it clear that many players may be playing for the final time on Sunday. Antonio Valencia and Ander Herrera are two confirmed talents who shall be bidding farewell to the club.
In addition, injuries will limit Alexis Sanchez, Eric Bailly, and possibly even Romelu Luukaku from playing a part in the game. The Norwegian gaffer made it clear that he would give two or three youth talents a chance to play and a senior team debut seems likely for a few players who have been waiting in the periphery all season.
Goalkeeper: De Gea
Defenders: Valencia, Smalling, Lindelof, Shaw
Midfielders: Herrera, McTominay, Pogba
Forwards: Chong, Greenwood, Rashford
Neil Warnock’s side have nothing to play for during this game as they have already been relegated and even all three points won’t suffice to take them out of the zone.
He too will be possibly looking to give a few youth players a chance and framing the team that will play in the Championship next season. Like United, Cardiff too may be seeing quite a few players for the last time. Injuries will limit them from fielding Callum Paterson, Harry Arter, Joe Ralls, Matthew Connolly, Souleymane Bamba, and Victor Camarasa.
Defenders: Peltier, Morrison, Manga, Bennett
Midfielders: Mendez-Laing, Gunnarsson, Bacuna, Hoilett
Forwards: Reid; Zohore
