Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is a man with a mission going into the summer transfer window. Manchester United appear to have clearly identified the flaws in their roster and are already trying to attain the targets that will amend those woes.

However, the absence of Champions League football for next season and a series of poor performances over the past few seasons all bode poorly for the Mancunian giants.

In addition to bringing fresh talent to Old Trafford, Ed Woodward and company are also tasked with clearing the dead wood in their current roster. While the likes of Antonio Valencia and Ander Herrera have already departed the club, there are a few more talents who will be shown the exit door.

As per the Mirror, Solskjaer has expressly identified four players who will be released in the summer window. These include Juan Mata, Matteo Darmian, Marcos Rojo, and Romelu Lukaku.

Juan Mata was an expected one after the Red Devils were unable to agree to an extension deal with him. The Spaniard will follow in the footsteps of his compatriot Herrera and depart as a free agent.

Darmian was long expected to leave the side as he has been surplus to requirements ever since the reign of Jose Mourinho. A Serie A destination is likely for the Italian.

Rojo, despite being given a new contract relatively recently, has been injury prone and struggles to make an impact. With a defensive arrival believed to be at the heart of United’s transfer plans, the Argentine international is likely to be sold in order to clear way.

Lastly, Lukaku’s departure won’t come as a surprise either. The Belgian striker has been struggling for form and has lost his starting spot after the arrival of Solskjaer who instead prefers Marcus Rashford.

Antonio Conte, who’s set become the manager of Inter, reportedly wants to sign Romelu Lukaku.
