Matthijs de Ligt’s next destination has been widely reported about. It is indeed fascinating to see how much attention a teenager can tout by virtue of football. The centre-back is expected to be amongst the best defenders in world-football and certainly has the ambition to pursue it.

Initially, it was Barcelona who were reportedly on the verge of securing his signature. However, alleged fallout from the club over the potential brokerage fees demanded by Mino Raiola seems to have soured that aspect.

United have since jumped in and reportedly offered him a bumper deal which would make him one of the highest paid players in the Premier League.

As per the Mirror, de Ligt has received specific advice to move to Old Trafford. This comes from his Ajax teammate Daley Blind who is a former Red Devil. This advice may just add to the other factors swaying him towards a decision in favor of the Mancunian giants.

At last update, the player himself had indicated that a choice will be made only after the Netherlands have played their two international games against Germany and England. With June 9th being the date for the second encounter, this saga can be brim over until then.

Advice like the one Blind has allegedly given could be instrumental in the youngster’s final choice. Ajax CEO Edwin van der Sar is another former Red Devil of influence who could reportedly help United sign de Ligt ahead of Barcelona.
