‘Boyhood United Fan’ Jan Oblak Wants To Leave Atletico, Favours Old Trafford Move
Manchester United lacking Champions League football has been repeatedly mentioned as a reason for them missing out on their top targets.
However, the English giants are nevertheless a Premier League side capable of providing massive incentives and that alone ought to give them an attractive outlook.
There are several players who are being linked to Old Trafford and reports are strongly suggesting that the club may finalize a few deals in the coming days.
However, it is the saga of David De Gea, which was expected to be early business going into this window that is yet to see an official word.
Now there may be a willing alternative.

As per ESPN, Jan Oblak is unhappy with Atletico Madrid and is considering moving away. The Slovenian goalkeeper is allegedly eager to join Manchester United. Oblak is a boyhood United fan and that could be a factor in him moving to the Premier League club.
The Old Trafford outfit were reported to be keeping tabs on the 26-year-old shotstopper from a while now. In April, they were seeking to possibly activate the €120 million buyout clause present in his contract. However, it is understood that United will pursue this route only if De Gea departs this summer.

Incidentally, Oblak is already being pursued by the likes of PSG according to reports. The French giants are also the top pursuers for De Gea’s signature after Buffon’s departure this summer. If they are the ones to secure the Spaniard’s signature, then it clears the path for Oblak to fill his spot at Old Trafford.
It was earlier reported that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would promote Sergio Romero to the no.1 spot if De Gea departs. Separate reports indicated that Ed Woodward and company were also looking at buying Barcelona’s Jasper Cillessen.
United could keep De Gea until the completion of his contract and then release him as a free agent or sell him this summer.
