Jose Mourinho Set For A Surprise Return To Premier League?
Jose Mourinho has been out of a job for a while now and it seems too cruel for a manager of his tactical prowess to be resigned to punditry. The gaffer had indicated earlier that he had already turned down a few offers as the interested parties did not have the structure that appealed to him.
While big names still continue to be linked with the former Real Madrid, Chelsea, and Manchester United boss, the destination he is now most touted to join may surprise quite a few people.
As per the Mirror, Newcastle United could have Jose Mourinho as their next gaffer.
The club is believed to be on the verge of a takeover, with billionaire Sheikh Khaled bin Zayed Al Nahyan allegedly readying a £350million offer for the Premier League club. However, present owner Mike Ashley is believed to be wary of the offer from the Abu Dhabi based individual, as he is yet to see proof of the existence of the takeover fund. Present boss Rafa Benitez’s contract expires soon.

However, if the Sheikh does succeed in acquiring Newcastle United, it is believed that Jose Mourinho tops his wishlist to helm the side. The report claims that Mourinho has told his friends that he would seriously consider taking the job.
It would certainly mark a big step down from the clubs he is used to managing as well as the names he is presently linked with.
Incidentally, Mourinho has a soft spot for Newcastle as it was the hometown of his mentor Bobby Robson. He stated last summer: “I like to go there. I like the feeling of going to Mr Robson’s home. I like that feeling. I like the stadium. I like the atmosphere. They are a good, enthusiastic crowd. I like the Geordies.”
Incidentally, Sheikh Khaled bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s cousin owns Manchester City and if that takeover and rebuilding is any precedent to go by, Mourinho may be in for a treat.
