Ajax Goalkeeper Andre Onana Could Move To Old Trafford If David De Gea Leaves
The future of David De Gea is the unspoken axe looming over Manchester United’s head this transfer window. The Spanish goalkeeper ended last season or a proper low-point, with his flaws factoring immensely in United losing out on Champions League football for the upcoming season.
Incidentally, that very shortcoming has been reported to be the single biggest thorn in the club’s side with regard to purchasing their biggest targets this summer.
As things stand, De Gea seems unlikely to sign a new deal with United, which means that the club could hold onto him until the end of the upcoming season and then release him for free, or cash in this window and purchase a replacement.
In regard to the latter, the Red Devils have a fresh target in mind.
As per the Independent, Manchester United have identified Andre Onana as their no.1 replacement for De Gea if he departs this summer. The Ajax goalkeeper is 23 years of age and is certainly the apt fit for the role at Old Trafford.

The report reaffirmed the rumors that PSG and Juventus are presently the top pursuers for the Spaniard and that a deal could still be struck this summer. However, it is believed that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and company will only sell him if the offered fee is sufficient.
Further, the source also acknowledged the recent report claiming that Jan Oblak has a desire to move to Old Trafford. According to it, United are aware of the interest from the Slovenian shotstopper and rate him highly. However, the club is wary of paying the player’s release clause, which is rumored to be in excess of £100 million.
The Premier League club have allegedly prioritized other areas for their overhaul and aren’t keen on allocating that high a fee for a goalkeeper. As of such, the Onana is the natural choice.
