Manchester United’s hunt for a centre-back may indeed end up defining the entirety of their pursuits this window.

The club has been linked with a host of names and most speculations seemed to indicate that even though the negotiations and deals for these defenders have reached various stages of progress, it doesn’t appear that those deals will be finalized any time soon.

This certainly has the look of spiraling into an awful window for the Mancunian giants with their pursuits in other positions also seeming to bring in a mixed outlook.

Issa Diop was the player that as of recent seemed to be on his way to Old Trafford. Now there is an interesting update on his availability.

Kaveh Solhekol of Sky Sports has claimed that Issa Diop’s representatives are due to have talks with West Ham United next week regarding the centre-back’s future. The Frenchman is believed to be happy with the Hammers despite the steady interest from United.

Solhekol adds that West Ham also inquired about the availability of Scot McTominay. It is unclear whether this interest is a standalone one or whether it is in connection with Diop.

Past reports had claimed that West Ham were inclined on acquiring a player from Old Trafford in an exchange deal and the young McTominay could be that player with Diop heading to Manchester.

It was also reported that their alleged request for Anthony Martial to be the swapped player was rejected by United who still value the Frenchman.

It appears that the scheduled meeting could be one where Diop’s terms are bettered even more in order to ensure that he remains at West Ham.

While definitive word on this affair is still pending, it certainly seems that yet another defensive pursuit from Manchester United may have resulted in disappointment. Who is next on their transfer radar?
