Bruno Fernandes appears set to choose Manchester United over Liverpool.
Having scored and assisted a combined tally of 50 goals in 53 Primeira Liga appearances last season, Fernandes has undoubtedly caught the attention of several European powerhouses.
Manchester United have been consistently pursuing the Sporting Lisbon playmaker’s services for quite some time, and they could be on the verge of winning this race.
However, as per reports that emerged in Portugal on Tuesday, the 24-year-old was subjected to a surprise bid worth £40m from Liverpool.
The newly-crowned champions of Europe hope to snatch the Portuguese international from right under the Mancunians’ noses and finalise this transfer.
In fact, Fernandes himself had expressed an interest in making the switch to Anfield, as he previously told Record: “I like Liverpool a lot more (than Man City), it’s a more direct, more offensive, maybe less organised, but more intense football. When you do not have the ball possession you are more intense.”
Further, the player’s agent has already held talks with Sporting, and has informed the club that the in-demand midfielder has his heart set on a move to Old Trafford.
