Manchester United and Juventus could be involved in a surprising swap deal.

The Red Devils recently strengthened their defensive department with the signing of Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Crystal Palace.

And with Diogo Dalot available to provide ample competition for the starting spot, the right-back position at the Old Trafford club looks sorted for the foreseeable future.

However, Wan-Bissaka’s arrival has pushed Matteo Darmian, who already looked set to depart from the English club, further down the pecking order.

The Italy international has been consistently linked with a return to his homeland for the past few seasons, but no transfer has materialised thus far.

But now, the 29-year-old may finally get the chance to complete his switch to Serie A champions Juventus, thanks to Mario Mandzukic.

According to Tutto Mercato Web, new Juve boss Maurizio Sarri has deemed Mandzukic surplus to requirements, and Manchester United could end up becoming the Croatian’s ‘eventual destination’ this summer.

Moreover, the 33-year-old striker’s move to England ‘could open the way’ for Darmian to join the Old Lady outfit, as both clubs have been monitoring the two aforementioned players for quite some time.

The source does add that no negotiations have begun just yet, but this potential swap deal is an ‘idea that could soon take shape’.
