Manchester United are about kick off their pre-season tour and are expected to make signings before that.
While a lot of speculations have been doing the rounds with regard to arrivals, the potential departures from the club also bear some looking in to.
Romelu Lukaku certainly surprised a few individuals when he showed up for pre-season training as rumors are still linking him quite strongly to a move to Inter Milan. However, it is Paul Pogba who has been grabbing the headlines in this regard.
Even though the Frenchman made it clear that he wants a new challenge, Real Madrid may want something more solid from him.
As per Mundo Deportivo, Zinedine Zidane and company want Pogba to hand in a transfer request to Manchester United.
The report states that Los Blancos wish for the World Cup star to perform this ‘final gesture’ by handing in an official request to depart the Red Devils.
It appears that Madrid want Pogba to set the wheels in motion with United adamantly stressing that the midfielder is not for sale. An enormous pricetag has also been attached to him which the La Liga giants aren’t too keen on meeting.
While the report pegs that price to be upwards of €170 million, Madrid allegedly wishes to bring it down to at least €150 million, if not lower. An official word from the player himself will leave the Old Trafford outfit with no choice but to get on the negotiation table.
Past reports had indicated that the Spanish side were willing to offer Isco in exchange to sweeten the deal and lower the transfer fee. However, it appears that United will only budge for a straight transfer, akin to the speculated stance they have taken with Romelu Lukaku as well.
Pogba is all set to join his Manchester United teammates and travel with them to the tour to Australia and Asia. Will this saga have a major development prior to that?
