Manchester United have enquired about the possibility of signing Tiemoue Bakayoko.

Bakayoko joined Chelsea from AS Monaco back in 2017, as a direct replacement for Nemanja Matic, who left the Blues to secure an Old Trafford switch.

However, the Frenchman failed to establish himself at the Stamford Bridge outfit in his debut season, and was subsequently sent out on loan to AC Milan by Maurizio Sarri last summer.

Now, the midfielder has returned to London for pre-season, and he will look to impress new boss Frank Lampard. But as per latest reports emerging from France, he might not get the chance to do so.

According to French outlet RMC, Manchester United have submitted an initial enquiry over the availability of Bakayoko.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is said to be “very interested” in the 24-year-old, who could be brought in to strengthen the midfield department at Old Trafford, especially with Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic linked with summer departures.

The report further adds that Paris Saint-Germain have also expressed sporadic interest in the midfielder, whereas Arsenal boss Unai Emery also “appreciates his profile”.

However, Lampard is expected to have the final say in the matter, and his judgement will determine where Bakayoko plies his trade next season.
