Transfer news often touches all ends of a spectrum before coming to fruition. For multiple sagas this window, progress has either been overestimated or been ignored in a manner so underwhelming that it catches fans off-guard when a deal is struck.

While the latter is always a pleasant surprise, it is the former scenarios that cause much ruckus, particularly when conflicting reports exist.

At the moment it appears that Harry Maguire’s future is hanging in a similar balance. On Sunday it was widely reported that the English defender was on his way to Manchester United after a lucrative deal was agreed with Leicester City.

However, claims since have downplayed the hype with many suggesting that official contact was yet to be made.

Another recent murmur now falls into the hopeful camp.

Ian McGarry, while speaking on The Transfer Window Podcast, claimed that Maguire had left Leicester City’s training camp in France.

McGarry states: “It’s our understanding that soon Maguire has already left Leicester’s training camp in France. Window. He will soon be coming back to the UK to finalise that deal. It will be £60million up front plus £20m in add-ons making him the most expensive defender in the world.”

He goes on to add a vital detail: “He’s due to have a medical at Manchester United in the next 48 hours as soon as the conditions and terms of his contract are finalized.”

This claim is certainly in line with the earliest reports which had suggested that a deal was met. Separate claims seemed to indicate that the Foxes were holding out on a clear-cut £80 million fee and that they wished to keep Maguire.

The player himself is understood to favor a move to United, although some sources also peg his interest in the direction of Man City.

A flurry of activity may await this saga in the coming days.sea
