What Man United Fans Are Saying About Tahith Chong’s Performance vs Leeds
Manchester United were well and truly playing the way they ought to against Leeds United during their pre-season game in Perth.
The Premier League giants emerged victorious with Mason Greenwood, Marcus Rashford, Phil Jones, and Anthony Martial all contributing to the 4-0 scoreline.
Tahith Chong was arguably the only academy graduate who wasn’t all out impressive against Perth Glory. In that outing, the winger felt a bit lacking in confidence in his forward-runs.
However, in this game, the 19-year-old was a significantly better player and was a crucial presence on the left-wing after being brought on in the second-half.

Chong could have caused some serious troubles had United’s midfield found him more often but his runs into the box were incredibly impressive.
Many supporters took note of this improvement in the teenager and commented about it on social-media.

Chong, Gomes, Andreas Pereira have picked up in the second half where Greenwood, Rashford, Pogba did in the first. All three been really good. Quality from Chong in the lead up and to win the penalty.

I have learnt a lot about these guys on this tour.
Greenwood: Similar to RVP. Skillful, great finisher. Two-footed. Generational talent. Bound to start games this season.
Chong: Runs a lot. Will fight for the badge. Quick. Can take players on 1v1. Needs better end product.

However, it is still evident that Chong needs to improve further in order to be seriously considered by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The left wing is certainly a populated option in the club’s roster and past precedent would indicate that a loan move down the line would do the Dutch winger heaps of good.
However, this game was filled with positives for him.
Further, the fact that he won the penalty that Anthony Martial eventually buried into the back of the net means that all six of United’s pre-season tour goals have been contributed to by academy graduates, who either scored, created, or won goals for the club.
The future certainly looks bright for the Mancunian giants.
