Manchester United transfer trysts appear to be more and more intense as deadline day is almost upon us. While a host of arrivals are still linked to the Red Devils, precedent has indicated that it may not be possible to wrap fresh deals in a matter of a day.
In fact, deadline day ought to be instead viewed as the final period during which summer-long sagas can be secured. As of such, someone like Bruno Fernandes is a more realistic arrival for the Mancunian giants than a new top name.
With regard to departures, the situation is slightly more complicated. Since Thursday’s deadline only applies to purchasing players, United can still lose talent until early September when the window closes across Europe.
As of such, the looming departures of Paul Pogba and Romelu Lukaku are still very much possible.
However, it is understood that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would only move if adequate replacements are signed.
In the case of Lukaku, however, much drama has unfolded over the past couple of days.
The Belgian striker has made it clear that he wishes to move to the Serie A and Inter Milan and Juventus have shown prime interest in him. The former Everton forward was seen training with Anderlecht instead of Manchester United.
Now, Adam Crafton of the Athletic (viaGiveMeSport) has revealed the following about this behavior from Lukaku: “Lukaku was yesterday absent from United training without explicit permission as he attempts to seal a move to Inter Milan or Juventus.
“My information this afternoon is that Lukaku was told by the club that if he stayed at United’s training ground, he would be expected to train with the club’s Under 23 team. As a leading international striker, Lukaku felt hurt and isolated and this is one of his justifications for instead choosing to spend yesterday at Anderlecht.”
Will this turn ugly if it goes on any further?
