Manchester United reigned supreme over Chelsea on the opening weekend of the Premier League.

The Red Devils won the game with a thumping 4-0 scoreline, as a brace from Marcus Rashford and goals apiece from Anthony Martial and Daniel James fed the Old Trafford crowd on a rainy evening in Manchester.

Of the four goals scored, it was certainly Daniel James’ debut shot that Old Trafford seemed to enjoy the most.

The Welsh winger himself was immensely overjoyed about the goal and the entirety of his teammates went over to congratulate the 21-year-old.

However, the goal also had an added element to it.

Weeks before Daniel James was able to secure his dream move to Old Trafford from Swansea City, his father passed away.

James was seen pointing to the heavens after netting his goal, in a clear tribute to his late father. He did the same during United’s last pre-season game against AC Milan, after his clean penalty secured the game for the English side.

James stated the following in his post-match interview:

It is obvious that his father would have been very proud of the manner in which James made his debut. The sheer reaction from the Old Trafford crowd and his teammates was also very wholesome.

Many have already begun comparing him to Ryan Giggs. Both players are Welsh and dominate their flanks with pace.

The Theatre of Dreams is bound to relish the winger for many more years to come.
