Jose Mourinho has joined the Sky Sports team as a football pundit and his inputs for the Premier League is a gift that few people knew they needed.

The Portuguese tactician was in peak form when Manchester United defeated Chelsea 4-0 at Old Trafford on Sunday. In fact, the former gaffer of both sides was cheered by the fans while seated in his box.

His inputs have already made the headlines, including a firm comment on how well-placed Manchester City are at retaining their Premier League title.

In the aftermath of the goalfest at Old Trafford, Mourinho had choice words for the performances of both sides.

In particular, he was all praise for the Man of the Match winning debut showing of Harry Maguire. However, while praising the Englishman, Mourinho couldn’t help but direct a jibe at Luke Shaw too.

Mourinho told Sky Sports: “He (Maguire) fully deserved the man of the match.

“He was solid as a rock and as we know it’s very important for a team to have that tactical knowledge, but also that personality and sense of reading the game.

He then went on to add: “Harry Maguire has had to cover Luke Shaw, and he will learn this season that he will have to do this many times. He also had the confidence to play – he was fantastic.”

Of course, the gaffer meant it all in good humor. Mourinho was crucial to the redemption arc of Shaw as his constant criticism and support ensured that the youngster was able to once again carve a place for himself in the starting lineup despite being marred by injuries and lack of form.

At the same time, Mourinho was also evident in his assessment that he’d have loved to have had Maguire back when he was managing the Red Devils.
