Most Manchester United fans appeared to have been scratching their heads when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer kept reaffirming the fact that Alexis Sanchez was part of his plans this season.

The Chilean forward has become somewhat of a poster-boy for United’s failures in the past few seasons- an aging forward who has been shy at scoring goals and makes a baron’s fortune every week without making a significant impact.

Many speculated that the former Arsenal and Barcelona forward would be amongst the first to leave the club this summer, ending both his inefficiency as a Red Devils and the awkward economic problems that his frankly ridiculous wage package posed.

Then again, the general culling of players that was expected at Old Trafford didn’t occur and United were left with Sanchez recovering from injury in the opening days of their campaign.

Now, Gianluca Di Marzio claims that Inter Milan are considering Sanchez for a possible transfer. The Italian club, like most of Europe, have the luxury of purchasing players until early September.

As of such, even though the Premier League can no longer purchase talent of their own, the players in England are free to switch to other European sides.

The report claims that Antonio Conte and company at Milan are looking at alternate options after their intent to sign Edin Dzeko fell apart when the forward signed fresh terms with Roma.

Now, it is believed that Sanchez is on a wishlist of Conte, Sporting Director Piero Ausilio, and CEO Beppe Marotta, along with names like Ante Rebic from Eintracht Frankfurt, and Napoli’s Arkadiusz Milik.

The report also adds that the possibility of Inter signing former Tottenham striker and free-agent Fernando Llorente.

The intent is evident- to find a suitable offensive partner for Romelu Lukaku.

Will a deal go through in the limited period that is left?
