Few players have succeeded in winning the hearts of Manchester United fans as Daniel James did. Nicknamed ‘the Flash’, the 21-year-old is renowned for his pace and was just as quick in scoring his debut goal when United won 4-0 against Chelsea at Old Trafford.

The simplicity of his fees and the sheer amount of potential he holds has led many fans to speculate that he will be amongst the club’s greatest assets in the years to come.

In fact, James has already drawn comparisons to Ryan Giggs, largely due to both of them hailing from Wales.

However, the legendary winger actually played a big role in ensuring that James moved to Old Trafford.

Giggs is the current manager of the Wales national side and had observed James much before United and gave the starlet his debut for the national side in 2018 itself.

Now, speaking to the Premier League, Giggs reveals that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer did consult him before moving for James from Swansea City: “Yeah, Ole asked me about him (James). I just told him that he’s a player with plenty of potential, obviously really quick. A great lad, someone who you want in the dressing room, great character.”

Giggs goes on to add: “So yeah, especially for the money it was a no brainer really because he is a big talent, and since Christmas he’s just got better and better and better. watched him a lot for Swansea last year and he could rip nearly every full-back in that division apart,” Giggs continued. So he’s just got better and better over the last six or seven months.

“From a standing start he is quick and he will beat anyone. It’s just that like any other young winger, the finishing touches, that final ball, scoring more goals, which he will get better at.”

Will James eventually inherit Giggs’ no.11 jersey at Manchester United?
