As of recent, the happiness of a player at a side has become central to their future. The days when talents used to warm the benches and count their days seem to be the thing of the past.

In the modern game, potential isn’t permitted to be wasted and agents ensure that players with a chance at redeeming themselves are given a way out.

Now, a player who once held immense hope is set out on a similar path.

Renato Sanches will be making the switch from Bayern Munich to LOSC Lille.

The Ligue 1 outfit have acquired his services for a reported €25 million in a five-year deal. He is now the record-breaking signing for the French side.

The 22-year-old has been increasingly unhappy at Munich as of recent and now redemption may arrive through this move.

In 2016, Sanches was the recipient of the Golden Boy Award and was touted to be the next big sensation of Europe. In the same year, the starlet had snubbed a move to Manchester United and instead joined Munich.

However, life with the Bundesliga giants was a torrid affair as Sanches was unable to make a steady first-team impact. In the weeks building up to this deal, the player was vocal about his intent to move away from Germany after not receiving adequate game time.

It will be interesting to see if the Ligue 1 presents itself as the apt destination for him to make true the promise that he showed early on in his career.
