Nemanja Matic has demanded showdown talks with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The Serbian international has fallen down the pecking order, having failed to start any of Manchester United’s first three Premier League games of the 2019-20 season.

Solskjaer, who wants his team to play quick and high-tempo football, has shown a preference towards the central midfield pairing of Paul Pogba and Scott McTominay.

This very fact has now led Matic to reconsider his future at the Old Trafford club.

According to the Mirror, the 31-year-old midfielder has demanded showdown talks with Solskjaer, as he seeks clarifications over his role in the team.

His current contract is set to expire at the end of the season, but the Red Devils do possess the option to extend the deal by a further year.

Matic was brought to United in the summer of 2017 by former boss Jose Mourinho. The ex-Chelsea star managed to play 36 Premier League games in his debut campaign in Manchester, and 28 during the course of the previous season.

But now, having lost his speed, agility as well as his guaranteed starting spot, it remains to be seen what the future holds for the experienced Serb.
