During the transfer window, the sheer variety that exists in the reports flowing in is often mind-boggling. As a consequence of their numbers and tendency to contradict each other, it is evident that not all claims are true.

Unlike other news stories, the flickering news value and the sheer pace of the rumors will also ensure that once a saga has been put to rest in an indecisive manner, a follow-up is often rare.

As of such, it is uncommon for the real truth regarding some of the claims to be uncovered, despite links being cited as factual well into the future.

However, now we have concrete evidence of the validity of one past saga that could very much be relevant in the near future.

Speaking in Inside Borussia Dortmund‘, an Amazon Prime Documentary outlining the Bundesliga club’s 2018/19 season, the club’s sporting director Michael Zorc confirms that Manchester United did have an interest in acquiring Jadon Sancho.

Zorc states (via Sky Sports): “A hot topic right now is Sancho and Manchester United. Both his discussions with the club and mine with the agent, a meeting did take place. Manchester United invited the agent. According to what I know, the agent told the club that no matter how much money they offer, we won’t let him go this summer.”

He also goes on to add: “The player also has no intention of taking that step this summer [2019].”

This is more or less in-line with the major reporting done on the saga at the time.

However, a renaissance of the same is also in effect as it is believed that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and company still have the English youngster in their plans for the future.

There have been indications that United and other European giants will revisit their interest in the forward. Will Dortmund and the player entertain a similar approach even then?
