After several transfer windows spent in uncertainty as to whether he will stay put or depart, David De Gea has finally put the speculation surrounding his future to bed.
The 28-year-old has penned down a long-term contract at the Old Trafford club, which will be valid until at least June 2023, with an option to extend for a further year.
Having joined the Red Devils under the management of Sir Alex Ferguson back in 2011, the Spanish international will have spent 13 years at Manchester United if he sees out his new contract in its entirety.
So far, he has made 367 appearances in the famous red shirt, and won the Premier League, the FA Cup, the League Cup, the UEFA Europa League and the Community Shield.
De Gea is a huge fan-favourite at the Theatre of Dreams, and his world-class antics have already ensured that he will go down in the club’s history books as a legend.
Now, after the official announcement of his new deal, the shot-stopper has managed to do something that has further endeared him to the club’s humongous worldwide fan-base.
After news of his contract was made official, De Gea uploaded a cinematic video of himself on all his social networking platforms, with the caption “There’s no place like home”.
In it, the custodian can be seen walking around Manchester United’s glorious stadium, as he declares: “Forget the rumours. This is my theatre. This is my stage. This is my home.”
