Mario Mandzukic and Callum Wilson are Manchester United’s top attacking targets for January.

It is quite evident that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s unit is toothless up front. The team currently lacks the ability to bang in goals — apart from the opening day 4-0 win over Chelsea, United have failed to score more than one goal per game this season.

The Norwegian gaffer has already hinted that the club will be dipping into the winter transfer market in order to sign attacking reinforcements.

Now, Sky Sports have revealed the two offensive targets that sit high on the Reds’ wishlist: Juventus forward Mario Mandzukic, and Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson.

Mandzukic was heavily linked with an Old Trafford switch in the summer, but the move failed to materialise. As per Sky Sports Italia, the Croatian turned down United, PSG and an unnamed Qatari club in favour of Juventus.

His decision appears to have backfired, as the 33-year-old is yet to feature domestically under Maurizio Sarri, while already being omitted from the Champions League squad. All things considered, a January departure from Turin appears very likely.

Manchester United’s alternative target is one close to home, and Wilson also fits Ole’s new transfer philosophy of signing English talent.

The 27-year-old still has three years left on his current Cherries’ deal, but it should not be much of a hindrance if the Mancunians come in with serious intent.
