Manchester United have established contact with Lyon sensation Moussa Dembele.

Injuries to Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford early in the season successfully exposed the lack of depth in the Red Devils’ offensive roster.

The frailty of the frontline has forced Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to recruit attacking reinforcements as soon as the winter transfer window reopens in January.

While players like Bournemouth’s Callum Wilson and Juventus veteran Mario Mandzukic have already been linked with a switch to Old Trafford, a new forward has now entered the fray, in the form of Moussa Dembele.

According to the Daily Record, Manchester United have opened talks with the 23-year-old over a potential January transfer, with the striker also believed to be keen on making the move.

Lyon too, are said to be open to selling the France international, provided they get a fee in the region of £71 million in return.

Dembele has been unhappy with life at the Ligue 1 outfit of late, having seen his role reduced drastically under former manager Sylvinho.

But now that Lyon have sacked the Brazilian gaffer and are set to bring in a replacement, it remains to be seen how the new appointment affects Dembele’s future at the club.
