Manchester United must be ardently planning out their future transfer windows. The start to this season has been an unprecedented one in the recent decades and no level of expectation of a rebuilding season would have produced so stark a drop for the Red Devils.

Regardless, it seems almost certain that the board will be more permissive of massive spending in the windows to come, provided the arrivals also aid their commercial image, one that too appears to be dwindling.

In this regard, United appear to have fairly positive hope about the pursuit of a crucial talent.

According to the MEN, Manchester United are ‘optimistic’ of acquiring James Maddison in 2020, which is in line with the recent claims on the saga.

The 22-year-old is apparently the perfect fit for what the Red Devils are pursuing and will be one of at least four signings that United will invest in over the course of the next two windows.

This is certainly in line with the prospect of young British players being scouted and purchased by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and may also be a stamp of the board’s short-term trust in him.

The report further adds that the Harry Maguire link and the fact that Maddison himself is a fan of the club is expected to sway the tides in favor of him joining Old Trafford, akin to what allegedly ensured Maguire’s arrival as well.

Solskjaer is believed to find the player to be ‘humble’ as well as proficient and allegedly looks for this quality in any new signing that will be made, in tune with the club’s larger philosophy.

However, the final issue will still be the price as the player is under contract to the Foxes until 2023 which gives Leicester City immense bargaining power to demand an incredibly high transfer fee.
