Barcelona Identify Rashford As Suarez Replacement – Reports

Manchester United’s scoring woes appeared to have abated for a bit when they won 3-1 against Norwich City on Sunday. However, their penalty curse remained intact as both Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial missed the crucial spot-kicks.

Then again, the duo did redeem themselves later on as they linked up to create United’s third goal in spectacular fashion.

There was a time when pairings such as this were commonplace in a Mancunian lineup and were the desire of European top brass. Needless to say, Rashford and Martial will need to ape such performances in the near future.

Then again, one of them may already be the subject of massive interest.

Manchester United Told To Sign Harry Kane By Roy Keane

According to the Mundo Deportivo (via the MEN), Barcelona have identified Marcus Rashford as a potential replacement to Luis Suarez in the next summer transfer window.

The report claims that both Rashford and Harry Kane are being targeted as possible replacements to the aging Uruguayan striker.

This is certainly an interesting affair given Rashford’s poor form in the past few weeks. Anthony Martial’s injury proved that the Englishman struggles immensely as a sole striker and is much more of a threat when deployed alongside a second striker or played in a wider role.

As of such, Rashford replacing the clinical Suarez does appear to be a questionable possibility. Then again, it isn’t entirely impossible given that the youth academy product is just under 22 years of age and carries heaps of potential.

Sunday’s goal was his 50th in a United shirt and he has been linked to giants in the past too.

Much like Paul Pogba, there may be precedence to show that the Old Trafford outfit will wish to hang on to Rashford for the long run, although he doesn’t yet command the impeccable commercial appeal of the Frenchman.
