Twitter Reacts To Marcus Rashford’s ‘Ronaldo-Style’ Free Kick
Manchester United excelled at Stamford Bridge in the Carabao Cup late on Wednesday, defeating Chelsea 2-1 in an electric encounter. The Red Devils opened the scoring through a Marcus Rashford penalty in the first-half.
However, the home side didn’t remain silent and Michy Batshuayi was able to equalize in the 61st minute, putting the competition back in pressure.
Following that, it was Rashford once more who won the heart of the fans by scoring via a superbly taken free-kick in the 73rd minute, cementing the progression for the Red Devils.
The manner in which the English youngster performed during the game has impressed most of the fans. Much criticism has been hurled at him as of recent for his lack of form upfront.

The recent penalty miss against Norwich City furthered that brand of critique and in general, fans have been wary whenever they see him in charge of spot-kicks of any sort.
However, the style of his winning free-kick in London was reminiscent of the manner in which Cristiano Ronaldo takes them. This comparison wasn’t missed by supporters and sure enough, Twitter was riddled with praise for the same.
Superb free-kick from @MarcusRashford. He’s a baller.

The same Rashford who misses penalties on a regular and sends free kicks to the stands has just scored a penalty and a free kick against us in one night.
FML.

When Rashford netted his 50th goal for United at Carrow Road, the obvious comparison made was that he had reached the figure 5 games fewer than Ronaldo had during his impeccable term at Old Trafford.
Needless to say, if Rashford can ape even an iota of the Portuguese superstar’s brilliance, United supporters are in for a treat in the years to come.
Keep an eye out when United next win a free-kick.
