Man Utd Could Make A £120m Swoop For Inter And PSG Stars
Man Utd are eyeing a £120 million swoop for Lautaro Martinez and Leandro Paredes in January, reports the Mirror.
The Red Devils have been on the lookout for a solid No. 9 and a midfielder to replace Ander Herrera and potentially partner Paul Pogba in the middle of the park. And their search has led them to the Argentinian duo.
Paredes is said to be unhappy with life at PSG due to his lack of playing time under Thomas Tuchel, playing just 25 times since his arrival in January. Moreover, the midfielder has just made a meagre number of 4 appearances this season.
On the other hand, the Inter star has reportedly become unsettled and would like to depart to a club that can offer a significant upgrade on his current wages, which the Old Trafford outfit can easily offer.
With 13 goals and 3 assists in 21 appearances this season, Martinez is a popular name in the transfer market, drawing interest even from Barcelona.
United have failed to replace Herrera and Romelu Lukaku since their departure and signing the Argentine pair would make up for any holes they’ve left behind.
The PSG man could turn out to be just the man they need in midfield as Fred and Andreas Pereira have failed to show much reliability. Nemanja Matic on the other hand seems to have set his heart on an United exit as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, Rashford can finally stop being forced to play as a striker with the arrival of the Argentine striker, providing depth and balance in attack.
However, the pair will not come cheap as their combined costs could rise up to £120 million. But with Champions League spots at stake, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer might be prepared to break the bank.
