Manchester United have put an end to one of the most enduring transfer sagas in recent memory and have finally acquired Bruno Fernandes from Sporting.

The news surrounding the 25-year-old attacking midfielder was bordering on the insane in the weeks leading up to this announcement. While personal terms between the player and United were understood to have been agreed a while ago, it was the lack of an agreement between the two clubs as to the final fee for the player that had stalled the transfer for this long.

In the end, it appeared that United had to break their deadlock and pay a reported €55 million initial fee plus €25 million in add-ons for the player.

However, it certainly seems worth it when one takes into account the reactions of the fans. In fact, there was another familiar face who seems elated at Fernandes’ next career move.

Diogo Dalot’s tweet reacting to United’s official announcement of Fernandes joining the club says it all.

The 20-year-old Dalot, who recently scored his inaugural goal in the 6-0 thumping of Tranmere in the FA Cup, is also a Portuguese international and would thus be welcoming his compatriot to Old Trafford.

Dalot aside, it is certain that the entirety of the United roster will be eager to see Fernandes join their ranks and better their hopes for this season, even though Jesse Lingard and Andrea Pereira may be featured less often as a result.

However, the immediate burning question is whether Fernandes will be the only player to receive such a reaction from a United player in the next 48 hours or will the roster at Old Trafford receive further addition before the window officially comes to a close until the summer.
