What Frank Lampard Said About Bruno Fernandes’ Transfer To United
Manchester United have certainly made a vital addition to their squad in the form of Bruno Fernandes. The Portuguese midfielder, who was pursued by the Red Devils for the better part of two transfer windows, made a late switch to the Premier League club from Sporting.
The 25-year-old had no incubation period to wait in and was granted his debut during the 0-0 draw against Wolverhampton Wanderers at Old Trafford.
While Fernandes failed to lead United to the much-needed goal, he came closest with his attempts and was thoroughly involved throughout the fixture, confirming that he will be a crucial asset in the years to come.
Further still, his addition was one that was received happily from several areas, with it more or less unanimously being said that Fernandes was the best transfer that the Mancunian giants had made in a while.
Even Chelsea gaffer Frank Lampard had positive words for the attacking midfielder, stating: “Every time I look at the television another player signs for a club, that’s the transfer window. But if I’m looking at it with my business head on and looking around us in the table and I look at Manchester United obviously signing a big, big player, a world-class player, in my opinion.”
The player-turned-gaffer goes on to add: “Tottenham have signed a few and they’re not far behind us. And not only have they signed a few, but a couple of players have left were obviously – not being too crude about it – the situation was they were towards the end of their contracts and maybe weren’t happy being at the club any more.”
Chelsea drew 2-2 to Leicester City in their latest Premier League encounter, marking yet another occasion when their fourth place in the Premier League is shaky.
Just how much will Fernandes aid United in securing that place?
