Daley Blind Could Return To The Premier League With Arsenal
Mikel Arteta has identified Ajax defender Daley Blind as a potential defensive solution, reports the Athletic.
Arsenal have been struggling with defensive woes for several years now with no incoming signings fixing the issues completely. Sokratis Papastathopoulos’ arrival had no impact and it’s better not to speak too much regarding Shkodran Mustafi.
Currently, David Luiz is somehow the Gunners’ best centre-back against all expectations. Callum Chambers had formed a decent partnership with the Brazilian before succumbing to a season-ending injury.
However, rather than going for a long-term fix, the Londoners are reportedly planning to do the most Arsenal thing ever by signing yet another cheap short-term solution. Blind is reportedly on Arteta’s shortlist of signings he’d like to go for in the summer.
The new boss signed Pablo Mari drom Flamengo and Cedric Soares from Southampton in January. It is said that if the pair fail to make an impact, the Dutch defender could be a serious target for the English giants.
The Spaniard has already revealed his side’s already working on summer signings. So it’s not surprising that targets have already been identified.
Daley Blind has been a regular at the Johan Cruyff Arena with over 30 appearances this season. Although the 29-year-old could prove to be a great squad player, he likely isn’t the solution fans want to see.
