Player Ratings: Manchester United 5-0 Club Brugge
Manchester United were exhilarant in their victory as they secured a thumping 5-0 scoreline over Club Brugge in the Europa League during the home leg of their encounter.
Goals from Bruno Fernandes, Odion Ighalo, Scott McTominay, and a late brace from Fred added to the effort of Anthony Martial in Belgium to take the aggregate scoreline to 6-1.
Here’s how the Red Devils fared on the night:
Sergio Romero – 7.3
Had little to do throughout the game but came close to conceding on one occasion. Another European cleansheet.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka – 7.4
Nothing too flashy from the full-back. Another decent showing.
Harry Maguire – 7.3
Attracted fouls and remained composed. Captain cool.
Eric Bailly – 7.0
Great showing from the centre-back, could have been more disciplined at the back.
Luke Shaw – 7.9
Incredible from Shaw, who made his balanced share of forward and defensive runs.
Scott McTominay – 8.2
Back from injury and attained a beautiful goal. Will be eager to get back to regular first-team action.
Fred – 9.0
Two brilliant late goals from the Brazilian, only his third for United, as well as an assist to McTominay’s goal. More of the same, more often. Made the midfield his own.
Daniel James – 6.9
Could have scored on countless occasions in the first half but was sloppy in his finishing. Created the shot that resulted in the penalty and sending off.
Bruno Fernandes – 9.0
Another Man of the Match performance from the Portuguese midfielder who was impeccable in his showing. A repeat of the Jorginho-style penalty and a crucial creative presence in McTominay’s goal.
Juan Mata- 8.3
Very impressive during the game and created ample number of chances while coming close to scoring. That pass to assist Ighalo was simply sublime.
Odion Ighalo – 8.0
Perfect debut for the Nigerian international. Brilliant in his offensive skills, the goal was an apt response and a dream start.
Substitutes
Tahith Chong – 7.0
Slow initially and made mistakes but improved in the dying minutes and assisted Fred’s second goal.
Jesse Lingard – 6.9
Actually managed to assist Fred’s first goal and was pretty decent.
Mason Greenwood – 5.9
Didn’t make much of an impact and couldn’t find that golden substitute goal again.
