Common respect and mutual praise is crucial for a dressing room to thrive. Bereft of it, sparks will fly and with it, a brilliant synergy is created, one that converts well on the pitch.

As such, the mark of a good team can often be ascertained by how the individual players speak of one another when they get the chance.

In this regard, Jesse Lingard has delivered some choice words for two of his teammates at Manchester United.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Lingard awarded Paul Pogba with an enviable tag when asked who was United’s best player: “I grew up with Paul and when he first came you could see the technical ability that he possessed at such a young age. He’s gone on to win the World Cup and many trophies with Juventus and us. He’s the all-round player, the complete player.”

A holistic picture of the Frenchman, who is linked to an exit this summer, was further added to as Lingard said: “He’s always positive and has a good energy off the field. He’s humble and one of the best guys you could meet. He’s always positive in the dressing room and picks the lads up when they’re down. That shows on the field as well.”

Mason Greenwood was another player who had lavish words associated with as Lingard added: “Mason knows the game of football. He shoots with both feet and takes corners with both feet. Still to this day I don’t know what foot he is! ‘When he’s been given the opportunity, he’s shown what he can do. It doesn’t matter about age, as long as you can perform and do a job for the team he will be get opportunities.”

His overall view of the starlet was no different from the one that most fans hold: “He’s still young and there’s a lot to learn but I think he’s learning at a rapid rate at the moment.”

All three players will be expected to be back in action with the Red Devils when Premier League football resumes on June 17.
