Manchester United have secured a win in the Europa League quarter-final fixture as they register a 1-0 scoreline against Copenhagen in the significant game.
Last night has nonetheless revealed that the Red Devils cannot yet celebrate their third spot in the Premier League or entirely focus on their transfer targets, as the quarter-final match spread a blanket of nervousness amongst the club members and supporters until the final whistle.
Owing to a deadlock at the 90th minute, the match advanced to extra-time, and five minutes later Anthony Martial won a spot-kick for his side which was successfully converted by Bruno Fernandes.
With that match-winning goal in hand, one might think that the pair were the only ones responsible for the victory they enjoyed last night. However, the public is of the opinion that Juan Mata was the one who made the difference in the tight game.
The Spanish international was benched at the start of the match, as anticipated from the usual trend since the Premier League restart. Solskjaer delayed his deployment until the 90th minute, and hence the star couldn’t make much of an impression in the four minutes of injury time before full-time.
As the game entered extra time however, the 32-year-old got ignited and the extra energy seemed to have made a meaningful difference. Going by the numbers, the veteran midfielder registered 91% pass accuracy and managed two shots on target.
Furthermore, the former Chelsea attacker was the one who set up Martial, which led to the penalty when the striker hit the ground inside the box.
The Spaniard’s performance was hence praised by the Norwegian manager following the final whistle.
OGS on Juan Mata: “So composed, calm clever. Calm us down. Great influence. I can just commend him for his professionalism. One of top assist makers in EL. Really done well for us.”

Just laughing at all those mocking Ole for taking Greenwood off for Juan Mata only 10/15 mins ago.

Ole also got it 100% right in bringing Juan Mata on. Helped changed the game in United’s favour and force that goal. Right substitution.
