Manchester United have reportedly signed Amad Traore.

A heavy 6-1 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday has left Manchester United utterly rattled. The entire club has come under heavy criticism and a lack of spending early on in the window has become the easiest scapegoat to pin the blame upon.

As such, late activity has been taking place in a grand flurry at Old Trafford with this deadline day poised to have multiple announcements.

The deals for Alex Telles and Edinson Cavani are done with just announcements pending and now the Red Devils could have a third name to add to the mix.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United have signed Amad Traore from Atalanta and the player will join the club in January. The Red Devils will pay €30 million plus add-ons for the teenager.

The 18-year-old winger has been linked to United in the past and has emerged onto their radar once again over the wekeend.

According to Romano, United put in a late bid to sign him after a deal to take him to Parma was announced on the Serie A club’s social media, effectively hijacking the deal.

Further, it is understood that getting a work permit and passport procedures for the Ivory Coast international is the reason why his arrival has been pushed back until January.

Incidentally, Romano cites Atalanta captain and Argentine international Papu Gómez to have stated: “He [Traore] is a future star, trust me. During our trainings he seems like Messi! You can’t stop him. Our centre backs have serious problems when Traoré is on the pitch… he’s fantastic!”

It will be interesting to see how fans react to this signing as United are either targeting lesser-known youngsters or aged players well past their prime.

Regardless of the signings made by Monday night, the fact that the deals were pending until this late is bound to affect the Red Devils’ efficacy.
