Facundo Pellistri Provided An Incredible Assist For United U23s vs Tottenham
Manchester United’s latest signing has had a goal contribution to his name at last.
The winter transfer window is almost upon as even as the full fruits of the summer’s spending is yet to be tasted by many clubs. This particularly seems to be the case for some younger names who are yet to break into senior squads.
At Manchester United, a flurry of young feet were added over the course of the summer, with the club’s youth academy looking very promising.
However, when it came to the transfer of Facundo Pellistri, an interesting situation arose. 18 years of age, the Uruguayan forward was expected to be a back-up solution to the club’s right-forward woes.
Instead, he has only been named on the bench seldom and has been functioning largely from the youth ranks alone.
However, the starlet did put in a great showing during the U23s clash against Tottenham and in the process registered his first goal contribution.
The excellent assist came from a well-executed cross and fans were all over Twitter praising the forward as the youth side won the fixture 4-2.

Adept crossing has been absent at Old Trafford for a while now and thus the effective manoeuvring of the ball by the South American came as a welcome surprise.
What is crucial going forward is whether or not Ole Gunnar Solskjær is able to translate this ethos into some first-team action. The Norwegian gaffer has been notoriously shy of options on his wings and there are murmurs about whether the upcoming window will see spending in a direction that will change that.
In addition to Pellistri, the Red Devils will also see the potential inclusion of Amad Diallo into their ranks.
Paired with Mason Greenwood, these youngsters could indeed hope to make a dent and a marked impact through substitute performances, if nothing else.
