Real Sociedad have held initial talks with the representatives of Jesse Lingard.

The Spanish side’s decision to sign David Silva from Man City this summer is paying off as they sit second in the La Liga table with 25 points in their first 12 games.

However, Imanol Alguacil’s side are keen to add another creative option as they look to build on their excellent start to the campaign.

As per Sky Sports, Real Sociedad have held initial discussions over a possible January loan move with the representatives of Jesse Lingard.

The academy star’s current deal is set to expire at the end of the season, with Man Utd yet to trigger a one-year extension clause in his contract.

Real Sociedad could sign him on a free transfer if they fail to bring him to the Anoeta Stadium next month. However, they will have to fend off competition for Lingard’s signature as his management team are also speaking to other clubs.

The England international is yet to play a single minute in the Premier League or Champions League, and has appeared in just two League cup games for the Old Trafford outfit this season.

Considering his current situation at the club, Bruno Fernandes’ scintillating form, and Donny van de Beek’s summer arrival, it is unlikely that the Red Devils will resist his departure.

Man Utd also allowed another academy graduate in Adnan Januzaj to join the same club in 2017, and the Belgian has made a bright start in the opening games for the high-flying Real Sociedad.
