McTominay’s Incredible Display Of Mentality As Man Utd Went 9-0 Up
Man Utd registered the joint biggest win in Premier League history against Southampton this week in a 9-goal thriller.
There were 8 different goal scorers – all in favour of United. Anthony Martial scored a brace while Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Marcus Rashford, Edinson Cavani, Scott McTominay, Bruno Fernandes and Daniel James scored a goal each between them with Jan Bednarek’s own goal completing the 9-goal tally.
Meanwhile, McTominay continues to have the best season of his career so far. The midfielder has not only improved his overall game but also added new dimensions to his play, one of them being an eye for goal. Scoring on Tuesday took the Scott’s goal tally for the season to 5, after having contributed to a massive win for his side.
But apart from the stellar performance, what impressed everyone was the central midfielder’s composure and display of leadership even towards the end of the match. After James had scored the 9th and final goal of the match, the United academy graduate was seen telling his teammate to kick off immediately, indicating a hunger for a 10th goal while the rest of the players celebrated.

Fans appreciate good performances, but coupling good performances with a top mentality like this is the secret to becoming a cult hero at the club someday.
It is safe to say that the 24-year-old has proven a lot of his critics from the time of his emergence wrong – having been initially deemed as not up to the mark during Jose Mourinho’s reign at Old Trafford. Since then the towering midfielder has managed to turn his career around under the guidance of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer who deserves a lot of credit for this transformation.
