United Fans Love Stunning Link-up Play Between Amad Diallo And Mejbri
Man United U23s have scored six goals in back-to-back games. After comfortably beating Liverpool 6-3 last week, Neil Wood’s side were involved in another goal-fest on Friday night.
The clash against Blackburn U23s, who are currently joint-top of the Premier League 2 table with Man City EDS, was not a comfortable outing like their previous match. United had to come from behind three times to secure a 6-4 win.
The hype around the youth team in recent weeks is largely due to Amad Diallo. The signing from Atalanta is getting the taste of English football with the U23s.
In his first appearance for United, Diallo scored two goals, including a panenka penalty kick. Last night, he went one step further and registered a hat-trick of assists and a goal at Leigh Sports Village.
Considering the amount of money United paid for the 18-year-old, the spotlight he gets is expected. But there are other equally exciting players in the club’s youth setup at the moment.
After Diallo’s debut brace, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer chose to heap praise on Joe Hugill instead. The English striker bagged four goals in the same fixture.
On Friday night as well, Shola Shoretire and Hannibal Mejbri played big roles in United’s comeback. Shoretire bagged a hat-trick, while the Frenchman impressed with his opening goal and overall link-up play.
In dying minutes when United were defending their lead after coming back from two goals down, Mejbri and Diallo both gave a glimpse of their technical ability. The duo combined to maintain the possession with some silky passing.
There’s so much talk regarding a first-team call-up for Diallo. But if the senior squad ticket is solely based on U23s display, the likes of Hugill, Shoretire, and Mejbri aren’t far behind the Ivorian winger.
